I always told myself I would NEVER ever buy an e-reader. I always loved the feel of a book. The smell of the paper and the texture. I am just a big books junkie. I am sniffing them at home after buying them in a bookstore. No judgment here, okay? Safe space and all…
My mother-in-law has this other e-reader- Pocketbook. She loves this thing and reads a lot on it. She told me several times to get one, but I always said no… Then, one day, she got a new one and gave me her old one to try. That was exciting, but I found out Amazon Kindle books do not support PocketBook, so I didn’t really have a lot to try on this e-reader, as most of the books on it were in Polish, and I prefer reading in English.
Long story short, I got a few books for my Kindle and started reading them last week on my phone.I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and to be honest, it was not terrible, but I didn’t enjoy it that much. So, I started wanting a Kindle and bought one a few days later. I have a Paperwhite Signature Edition, and keep in mind this is my first e-reader ever, and so far… I really love it.
What is this Kindle Paperwhite thing? Let me explain.
I was thinking between Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. There are a few differences between these two. The signature edition has:

- The auto-adjusting front light is great for me. The weather in England can really change from minute to minute. I had this one day when the sun was coming all the way, and a few minutes later, it was raining, and I loved these light adjustments. I didn’t have to click anywhere and change it every time; it just did it for me, and I could entirely focus on reading. Let me add one more thing, reading in bed at night is amazing with this little helper.
- 32GB storage, which, as I’ve heard, is overkill. You don’t need that much storage for the books, but this is what you get with this model.
- Wireless charging, which I don’t have to explain (at least I hope so).
The thing that I like in this Kingle, but as I am aware, in both Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition, is this 300 ppi glare-free display that reads like paper (even in bright sunlight, as the producers say). It has a non-glossy E Ink display that looks like paper. That means reading on Kindle is so much easier on the eyes than reading books on OLED screens. (After an hour-ish reading on my phone, I already had a headache).
The thing that made me love this Kindle is its weight of 208g (the standard pepper white is 205g). Compared to my iPhone, which weighs 240 g, you could really feel the weight in your hand after some time. With this Kindle, I don’t really mind the weight. It is really comfortable to handle even when I am lying in bed.
Unlike many other readers, this Kindle has only one button at the bottom—to wake and put the device to sleep. You navigate everything else by touching the screen. The screen sensitivity is really good, so you don’t have to press too hard on it to catch your touch.
The last thing is the battery. According to the internet, it should last for a while without charging- 10 weeks. I can’t say for sure because I haven’t had this Kindle for that long, but I will add more information about this in the future. You are not going to find any ads on this model and the cost of this e-reader is 179 GBP.
